Crypto & NFT Beginning
Danny’s journey to becoming DJ Seedphrase started back in 2013 when got involved in crypto investments. He invested $4,000 into Bitcoin which resulted in a reported profit of nearly 10 million dollars by 2017. Shortly after, Danny began researching and investing in NFTs, building up a sizeable NFT portfolio.
Seedphrase (@seedphrase on Twitter) was known for his large collection of CryptoPunks. One of his NFTs, CryptoPunks, #8348, was the inspiration for DJ Seedphrase. This NFT is known as “SevenTrait”, because it has seven unique visual attributes or traits, making it one of a kind. Danny purchased SevenTrait in 2020 for 85 ETH which was approximately $18,000 at the time. Another investor made an offer to purchase SevenTrait for over $4 million. However, the offer wasn’t accepted.
Becoming DJ Seedphrase
DJ Seedphrase made his first public music showing at NFT.NYC in 2021. It was an opportunity to highlight the intersection of Web3 and music and also bring the CryptoPunks #8348 NFT from the digital world to real life. Seedphrase’s DJ set was a hit as he wore a replica SevenTraits helmet while playing alongside superstar DJs Steve Aoki and Don Diablo.
Seedphrase joins deadmau5 and Marshmello, two other high-profile DJs who wear helmets onstage. Seedphrase’s SevenTrait helmet was made by the same team that created DJ Marshmello’s.
Inspiration
DJ Seedphrase’s journey into the music scene was fueled by his passion for music and Web3. The first appearance at NFT.NYC was intended to be a one-time event. However, Seedphrase was greeted with curiosity, intrigue, and excitement. The unexpected reception from the crowd was inspirational and the footage on Twitter went viral. The Dolce & Gabbana NFT auction celebration was another high-profile event Seedphrase performed at following NFT.NYC.
Motivated by his love for various genres and the influence of notable figures in the music industry, DJ Seedphrase was determined to continue with his music “project”.
Drawing inspiration from the vibrant music scene and fringe culture around him, Danny began experimenting with original music and exploring different styles. His style was influenced by commercial house and deep house and has plans to incorporate hip-hop into his music.
Creative Process and Original Music
Over the past year, DJ Seedphrase has been working on original music. His goal is to create music that evokes some of the emotions and memories from his personal life.
In July 2023, Seedphrase signed with talent agency WME, the same agency that represents high-profile artists Dua Lipa and Adele. In August 2023, his first track, “Angels”, was released.
The inspiration behind Angels came from Danny’s time in Los Angeles during the pandemic and when the NFT market was beginning to explode. He met a lot of people who have helped him succeed in his career and as DJ Seedphrase.
