Steve Aoki Idol III – NFT Jukebox

Relics, a music-focused web3 startup, has collaborated with world-famous EDM DJ and crypto enthusiast Steve Aoki to create Idol III, a NFT Jukeboxe for the Metaverse. This collaboration aims to revolutionize the way fans experience music in virtual worlds.

The highlight of this partnership is the Idol III, a new virtual music player built by Relics specifically for the metaverse. The music player allows fans to own and control their digital music collectibles in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

With Idol III, users can create their own virtual jukebox, complete with their favorite electronic music tracks and exclusive collaborations from top artists like Steve Aoki.

What sets Idol III apart is its design to be compatible with Metaverse platforms. Currently, the only integration is with Decentraland, but there are plans for compatibility with other virtual worlds. The Idol III will feature 12 pre-installed tracks from Aoki’s influential Dim Mak label.

How do Relics and Idols Work?

Relics released two other Idol music players before Idol III: Genesis Idol and Idol II. The Idols can be paired with Relics, music NFTs (visual music records), to play music in the Metaverse.

The Relics can be played without the Idol players. However, pairing Idols and Relics creates the virtual metaverse jukebox. So if you’re in Decentraland and want to add a soundtrack to your adventure, you can pair your Idol music player.

The rarity (and price) of Relics increases determined by the number of plays, known as upgrading. This is similar to the existing music recording certification status such as Gold and Platinum.

Idols on their own, not paired with Relics, still offer utility as high-quality pieces of digital art. They serve as showpieces in people’s virtual spaces, enhancing the social experience and adding a layer of art and culture to the Metaverse. However, the pairing of Relics and Idols offers the best audio-visual experience in virtual worlds.

Where can you buy Idols & Relics?

You can find Genesis Idol and Relics on NFT marketplaces such as OpenSea. Idol II and Idol III are no longer being minted. Check secondary NFT marketplaces for purchase.

Monstercat and Relics

Monstercat, the electronic dance music label, offers a huge library of music for the Relics platform. Fully-licensed artwork is available to use in virtual worlds due to this partnership, without running into legal or copyright issues. Famous DJs like Kaskade and Marshmello have been on the Monstercat label.

What’s Next?

The Idol III, a digital, metaverse-ready music player, represents a potential breakthrough moment in the future of music and digital art in virtual worlds. Combining the nostalgia of jukebox culture with the innovation of non-fungible tokens, it offers music fans a new way to engage with their favorite music while interacting in the virtual worlds.

For NFT music enthusiasts and digital collectors, the Idol III is a must-have player that pushes the boundaries of music and brings a new sound system to the metaverse.
