Although we are focused on the web3 EDM scene, we like to highlight other musicians and artists who also incorporating NFT technology into their music. DJs Steve Aoki and 3LAU are pioneers in the NFT EDM space. In hip-hop, Snoop Dogg’s Stash Box, is another example of a musician using blockchain technology to change the music industry. Snoop, involved in numerous crypto projects, is at the forefront of NFTs and crypto.
Gala Music
If you’re into online gaming, you’ve probably heard of Gala Games, a popular web3 gaming platform. The platform, part of the GameFi ecosystem, hosts blockchain created games that allows players to own their in-game items through NFTs–known as play-to-earn in gaming. The quality of games and NFT features have lead to the hight usage of the Gala Games platform.
Gala Music launched on the success of the Gala Games ecosystem, taking advantage of the NFT technology powering the games platform. The NFT music platform is an alternative to traditional music industry streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music. Gala Music, a decentralized music platform, gives artists more control over their music while giving fans a completely new music experience. Most importantly for artists, this model allowed for an equitable distribution of the music incomes, and a new avenue for up and coming artists to be discovered.
In addition to NFT music platforms, the music metaverse is another way for artists to generate new income streams.
Bacc on Death Row Records
Snoop Dogg launched a project called Stash Boxes with Gala Music in early 2022. The music project was the NFT album release of B.O.D.R (Bacc on Death Row Records), Snoop’s first blockchain released album.
Each Stash Box contained 1 of 78 NFT songs from the B.O.D.R album. In addition, each Stash Box owner would receive additional prizes such as films and comics. Anyone with a complete collection of Snoop’s Stash Boxes, all 17 songs from the B.O.D.R album, gets access to perks such as a pre-party with Snoop and other exclusive concert experiences. Snoop’s Stash Box was limited. Only 1,470 NFTs of each song will be available at a price of $5,000 for each Stash Box.
What’s also unique about the Stash Box collection is the ability to use the music NFTs in the Gala Games ecosystem. For example, using the Stash Box NFT to make tracks from the B.O.D.R album as the background music for game play. And, similar to the play to earn model on Gala Games, the music platform will have a listen to earn feature. To support artists, fans can listen to their favorite tracks on the platform and earn rewards for doing so.
Stash Box Rewards
We have seen some very lavish rewards through NFT projects by EDM artists Steve Aoki and Alesso. Rewards for Snoop’s Stash Boxes are comparable. Examples of some of the rewards include:

Death Row Records Brand
Death Row Records, founded in 1991, represented artists such as Dr. Dre, Tupac Shakur, and Snoop Dogg. In 2006, the iconic record label filed for bankruptcy. It’s only fitting that Snoop Dogg revive the label by the purchase of Death Row Records in 2022. Death Row Records was the begging of Snoop’s infamous rise to the top of the hip-hop world. As the first web3 music label, it’s is propelling Snoop into the blockchain and metaverse.
Snoop Bounce
This was a limited edition NFT track release on Gala Music which followed the Stash Box project. Snoop Bounce was a song released in 1996 on Snoop’s Album “Tha Doggfather”. The track, now released as an NFT, was a surprise drop to reward fans closely following Snoop Dogg and his Gala Music project. To start, 500 NFTs were offered at a price of $500, substantially lower than the Stash Boxes.
Steve Aoki New Songs
A Steve Aoki and Snoop Dogg pairing is the perfect partnership for a new NFT project. Both artists are highly visible in the blockchain ecosystem and have impressive NFT collections. An NFT album called “Alpha Doggz Da Da” is the collaboration.
The Aokiverse is Steve Aoki’s NFT project. Owning an Aokiverse “Passport” or Snoop’s Stash Box NFT gives you access to one song on the album through a free airdrop. The album contained five tracks, all released in stages.
